Edition Issue 36 Let’s Fish Bible Fellowship Churches sharing resources to evangelize the world. A place for the exchange of ideas on short term missions projects and local outreach. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." All responses can be sent to office@bfcbom.org Current and past issues can be found on the web at: look in Let’s Fish, Archives Greetings from 4. Trips in the works (updated weekly) 5. Nelson’s Short-Term Nuggets 7. Need input for next summer? With the leaves falling and with frost on the ground, our minds tend to think more about the upcoming holidays than about short term mission trips. There are several of things that should be on your minds as leaders. 1. Don’t neglect last year’s team. Now is the time to do some important debriefing. Gather the team together for one last meeting and reflect on your trip not that time has allowed the group to process all of the events. Talk about what God has taught you. Reflect on some of the people you have met and spend some time in prayer for them. Remember that the host missionary is still serving, some of the church people you met are still there, and the needs are still present. Pray! Allow time to share stories that still are foremost in member’s minds. This is a GREAT processing meeting. 2. Consider a Culture Link Seminar. Learn the latest tools available for team building for the 2004 teams. Effective team building should start 6 months or more prior to departure date. See item #2 below! 3. NOW is the time to be seeking an effective team destination. If you have this as a “to do” item for March or April . . . You are too late! See item #7 below
The BOM will demonstrate a Culture Link Seminar for short term mission leaders on January 9-10. This Friday thru Saturday event will give you hands on experience in building team spirit and adequately preparing your team for cross culture ministry. You will learn a seven step process from picking a ministry to follow-up phase six months after the event. This will be a fun, eye-opener event that will include team building exercises, and cross culture flexibility. From the food you eat to the place you sleep will all be part of the weekend process. SAVE THE DATE! (Jan. 23, 7:00 p.m. thru Jan. 24, 3:30 p.m.) WHO should attend: All leaders of future short term mission teams. PLACE: Bethel bible Fellowship Church, Emmaus COST: $70.00 includes Saturday Breakfast and the Student and Leader’s Culture Link Manuals. The only additional cost will be Saturday lunch at a local restaurant. REGISTER NOW at office@bfcbom.org.

5. Nelson’s Short-Term Nuggets “Kosovo Number 13” I am writing this in advance, BUT, if everything goes as planned I should be in Kosovo with five other friends as this issue of “Let’s Fish” is prepared. Kosovo, Kosova as the Albanians pronounce it, has a soft spot in my heart because it is where God began to really twist my heart towards short-term missions. Everyone that has traveled with me has come back changed, not by anything that I have done, but it is God working through the people and their circumstances. The people in Kosova are so relational, they love to have tea (chi) and talk, and if you have no interpreter, they appreciate you just being in their home and trying to communicate with them. Most are Muslim, although they do not practice their faith, BUT God is working in Kosova and many small churches are starting, and being persecuted. Please pray for Carol, Deb, Dev, Jack, Paul and Nelson as we serve our Savior and Lord in Kosova!!!!!!!!!

Did you ever notice that most maps have the What arrogance! To place ourselves in the prominent middle of the map and
then exaggerate our size demonstrates the very big ego problem that we have in When you minister cross culturally, leave that ego at home! Ask God to take away that attitude that makes us believe we deserve the centermost position on the world map. A good verse that makes you an effective world Christian is: For by the grace given to me I say to everyone
among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think. Romans 12:3 Paul at the beginning of that chapter tell us to crawl up on the alter of God as a living sacrifice. When one gets on the alter, the last vestiges of ego are slain! Next time you
