 Today's Feature

'Tis the Season to be Jolly Witnessing!

By Dana Weller
As a reader of Lets Fish, the assumption is that you have an interest in missions even to the extent of having served on one or more mission trips. Lets get serious, missions is about telling the Good News. Our New Testament begins with the shepherds demonstrating to us the passion of spreading the Gospel:

Then the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds story were astonished,

Peoples hearts are tender this time of year. Even the most nominal Christian was upset with businesses who down played the word Christmas in favor of more generic greetings. Lowes advertising of Holiday Trees for instance, had a tremendous backlash.

Christmas is about Christ. We must seize the opportunity to tell our family and friends about the Savoir of the World. Be as crystal clear with your message as were the angels 2000 years ago:

Today your Savior, Christ the Lord, was born in the city of David

 Ministry Opportunity

Work Team needed for Kiev

I just spent about 10 days in another city. During that time, I traveled to a small town and visited with a church planter there. He is starting a new work and has been constructing a church building.

The building itself is well on the way. But the interior needs to be finished. Some electrical work; lots of drywall; maybe some plumbing that kind of work.

Depending on the Lords leading, I may become a part of this ministry venture. I am seeking the direction of our Lord about this potential change in ministry location.

Is there a possibility that a BFC work team could come and finish this church building?? This little town is about 4 hours from the capitol city of Kiev.

Please let me know what you think of this opportunity and whether a team could be put together to do this work.

Thanks, and blessings to you all. Rick Erb

Puppet Ministry

Brothers, Each year we have an outreach event the Saturday before Easter. We have an event designed for children in the community including an egg hunt, games and crafts, but the most important part of this event is the Gospel presentation. We are looking for a puppet ministry that would "entertain" the children, but give a clear presentation of the Gospel so that the children and their parents would hear the word of God. If your church has a puppet ministry, please contact me at andyc@faithbfc.org or call me at 215-256-6026. In Christ, Andy Crossgrove

Nelson's Nuggets - Three Dozen and Still Counting!
On January 8th a team of three dozen BFCers will be headed to Slidell, LA to work on several of the many homes ruined by Hurricane Katrina in late August. The Dirty Three Dozen, as I will call them, represent about eight Bible Fellowship churches in at least three states (that I know of). It is doubtful that any one person knows more than four or five of the others on the team. BUT, that will not last long. By the time the week is over each of us will have made many new friends within the denomination and with others that may be also working through Faith Bible Church in Slidell. Please remember to pray for:
  1. Our safety as we travel early on the morning of January 8 and home on the afternoon of January 14.
  2. That we would all work well together as a team and that no one would be injured during the week.
  3. And most importantly, that Christ would be honored by all that we do and that we might have an opportunity to share HIM with those that we meet, both at the worksites and our favorite hangouts from the last trip- Home Depot and Lowes.

 Urbana 2006

URBANA 2006 December 27-31, 2006

URBANA is only 369 days away.

NOW is the time to begin to plan for this great experience. There is no getting around the fact that URBANA is expensive. If you immediately begin a consistent savings plan there is no reason why this important missions conference should be out of your reach.

Get all of your questions answered at:
http://www.urbana.org/u2006.faq.cfm

Urbana offers a multiplicity of experiences and opportunities under one roof. Participants hear the word of God, learn about the current state of global missions, worship and study with thousands in a diverse gathering of world Christians, and interact with hundreds of different missionaries and agency
representatives. Anyone who is serious about discovering their place in Gods mission will benefit from Urbana 06s program and the abundant resources present.

 Mission Trip Journal Entry

Ron Miller in India

Dana,

I thought you might be interested in this diary I put together of my trip to India. Although I am 54, I have never gone on a missions trip before. I believe it has changed my life. Ron Miller Elder, PMBFC Here is a short entry from Rons Diary. (Like all of us one of the first things we learn on a missions trip is bathroom etiquette. Pictures will follow in future Lets Fish publications.) Roja, Sureshs wife, explained to me the workings of an Indian toilet. The wet room is a toilet and bathing room all in one. The floor is usually wet, as there is no separate tub or shower area. Apparently, each time they use the toilet they bathe from the waist down. They do not use toilet paper, but did have a roll for me. I was given hot water in a bucket for a bath. I think I am expected to bathe each night. She told me to hang my dirty laundry on one side of the bathroom. They have a hired worker who does daily wash for the orphanage and family. I wont need all of the twelve shirts I packed.

 Final Thoughts
This will be the final Lets Fish until the end of January. Three weeks of Sno-Glo will bring us a host of new readers as many youth groups and individual teens contemplate the many ways they may be used in ministry.

Continue to send In your materials for publication next year. For you going to Sno-Glo, I will see you shortly. Please pray for these three important weeks and the Snow Valley weekends. God has always spoken to the hearts of many during these weekends in January.

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding
Is the Great I Am

Oh Mary did you know?
