No Time for Picking Blackberries

Dana Weller

The poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861) wrote, “Earth is crammed with heaven, each common bush aflame with God. Yet only he who sees takes off his shoes. The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.”

Moses saw a burning bush and turned to see it. When God saw that Moses turned aside, it was then that He spoke to him and commissioned him for service.

Do you see what is happening in this world? Jesus said look the fields are ready NOW for harvesting. The call is as certain for us as was the burning bush call for Moses.

Are you willing to turn aside and allow God to speak? Do you hear God’s call? OR are you too busy picking blackberries!!

I encourage you to go to www.bfcbom.org and on the opening page simply watch the population clock for one minute. As you watch that clock, think of the somewhat gloomy words written by J. Wakefield MacGill (1829-1902):

Hear the wail across the sea;
Comes from millions unto thee;
Weary ones who might be free;
Did they but know of Calvary.

Wailing, wailing o’er the sea;
Wailing, wailing unto thee;
Wailing, wailing to be free;
Go, tell them all of Calvary.

Wailings reach this favored shore,
Wailings ceasing nevermore;
Men are dying evermore;
Go, tell them all of Calvary.

Do you see the burning bush? There's no time for picking blackberries!

 Letter To Let's Fish

Hi Dana:

I am serving as a volunteer with World Team, specifically related to the France Challenge project. Jenny and I, along with Helen and Carl Spackman are attending the Paris Prayer Conference from June 11 to 18th. I recently had an article published in the latest issue of the Fellowship News concerning, "France Challenge Project: A Time to Give Back". Also to raise funds for the Project we are doing a book sale at the Harrisburg Church on April 16 with all proceeds going to the France Challenge Project.
Blessings on your efforts,

Hank Snyder

Nelson's Nuggets "My Church?"
Many of you know that I spend much of my time acquiring the items (professional way of saying shopping) that we distribute overseas in such places as Kosovo, Morocco, Mexico, Greece, etc. Oftentimes a conversation develops with the clerk at the register or with another customer either ahead or behind me in line as to what am I doing with so much toothpaste or soap or shampoo or socks…? Of course I try to seize every opportunity to share about our ministry and that I am a missionary with my church and then tell about what we do and why. Almost every time without fail one of the persons involved in our conversation says something like, “my church has done something like that in the past,” OR “my church just returned from ….” The sad thing is when I ask, “where do you go to church?” or “what is the name of the church?” Again, almost every time without fail the person stutters and cannot come up with the name of the church, and then says, “well it is my parent’s church and I haven’t been there for a while!” Or, “well I can’t remember the name but I know where it is!” Sad isn’t it, I know that they are trying to make conversation and they are trying to be nice BUT when they say my church it is really not their church It breaks my heart that they have not been to their church in so long that they don’t remember the name of it or that they grew up in a church and no longer go since leaving home. ANYWAY, it gives me an opportunity to tell them that maybe GOD has me in their line today to prompt them to go to church this SUNDAY, or to prompt them to go back to that church that they haven’t attended in so long. I am grateful for all the opportunities that GOD gives me, each and every one!
