2. Feed Back

Dear Dana:’

We should have told you before now so we send our sincere apologies.  We are sending a team of 11 to Romanian September 19-28.  There will be a three-fold emphasis – teaching by those gifted in teaching, mercy ministries by those gifted in mercy projects and a work project for those gifted in manual labor. I will be going and leading the team.

Brian Cooper

Editor’s note:  The entire Let’s Fish readership is interested in EVERY BFC sponsored trip.  I print this letter to urge any others that are or have gone on a missions trip in 2003 and have not registered with Let’s Fish to do so.  Pastor Brian, tell the team we are praying for them!

IT is not too early to register your 2004 trips.

Dana,

FYI-- a trip to Serbia from Grace BFC, Reading, is planned and the team of six people leaves this Friday, Sept. 5 from Newark Airport. The team consists of the following people: Charles & Vickie Lavigna, Harold Witwer, Leroy Burke, David & Kasahun Williams-Jaffe.  They are going with a specific purpose-- to minister to the Frankas, lay bricks, and help Milina as she helps to feed and care for another team coming from Detroit. Please include this in the short term section of Let's Fish and encourage people to pray as the team leaves! Sorry such short notice! At this point, NO other trips are planned to Serbia via the Grace BFC route. We'll try to keep you posted as to how everything went.

Thanks for your prayers and work in communicating in this way!

3. See You at the Pole

By the time most of you read next week’s issue of Let’s Fish hundreds of BFC teens around the denomination will make a witness stand for Christ at the entrance to their High School.  I know of BFC H.S. teachers that will stand in the background as a testimony of their own faith and support of the kids.  WHAT AN EVENT!

Let’s spend the next seven days praying for each and every student that will make this stand!  Pray that there will be a positive impact on the High School systems around the country.  Pray for those who have not purposed in their heart to participate because of fear that they will face their fears and stand shoulder to shoulder with others on this great day.

In preparation for this great day Fallout 2003 will be held this Saturday as a rallying point for H.S. believers and a natural place to invite unbelieving friends.  (I will be there all day behind the French fryer in the food tent. I would like all Let’s Fishers to give me a big hello when they pass by!)

Check out the announcement below (item #7)!

  6. Final Thought

I just put a call into the Child Evangelism Office to see if my friend Ralph can come up with the words to a song I learned as a kid.  It begins “I can be a little missionary . . .”

In theory it is a powerful children’s song that taught me at a very young age the responsibility I had to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ!

Now so many years passed I can no longer remember the words of the song!  The reality of its message however still remains; I have a responsibility to this world to proclaim the Gospel.  I guess thinking about the bold stand so many of our h.s. students will be making next week at the flag pole, challenges me to make every effort possible to publicly live my faith.

Well Ralph just called me back with the words to this song.  No wonder it impacted me.  The words are a little old fashioned, but look at the message:

I can be a little missionary,

If the gospel story to the lost I carry.

I can work for Jesus in the home land

Lord Here am I, send me!

I’ll be faithful, studying, and praying,

If the Master call me, home I’ll not be staying!

To the fields already white to harvest,

Send me Oh Lord I’ll pray!

At six years of age it was already being grilled into me that at home or abroad I can be a witness for Christ!  I would hope that the motto of every Let’s Fisher would be:

I’ll be faithful, studying, and praying,

If the Master call me, home I’ll not be staying!

To the fields already white to harvest,

Send me Oh Lord I’ll pray!

You are my witnesses, declares the LORD, that I am God.

Most of all, Keep Fishing!

Dana
