| The BFC churches are
wrapping up a very busy summer of short
term trips. There have been a variety of
work teams, ministry teams, and
humanitarian teams. We have traveled to
Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa.
We helped our own churches we forged new
territories.
I received a thank you note from our
Short-Term missions trip to heaven. In
part it read:
I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a
drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a
room,
I was shivering and you gave me
clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.
I wrote back to heaven and asked when
did a BFC Short-Term team ever see you
hungry and feed you, thirsty and give
you a drink? And when did we ever see
you sick or in prison and come to you?
I then received this answer by return
mail: ‘I’m telling the solemn truth:
Whenever you did one of these things to
someone overlooked or ignored, that was
me—you did it to me.’ This recorded
in Matthew 25
Let every detail in your lives—words,
actions, whatever—be done in the name of
the Master, Jesus, thanking God the
Father every step of the way. –Paul

Priorities |
|
Here are some
interesting facts:
- $46 billion - Amount
spent per year globally on
bottled water
- $1.7 billion - Amount
needed per year beyond current
spending to provide clean
drinking water to everyone on
earth
- More than one billion
– Or 1 out of 6, is the number
of people worldwide who lack
reliable access to safe drinking
water
- 80 - Percentage of
world illnesses due to
water-borne diseases
[NEW YORK
TIMES/WATER AID]
Americans drink on average more than
24 gallons of bottled water a year and
another 52 gallons of soft drinks.
Interestingly enough, many times tap
water ranks higher in blind taste tests
than does bottled water! Did you know
that some bottled water costs 10,000
times as much as water from the tap?
I am not on a campaign to stop bottle
water consumption by the Let’s Fish
readership. I am however encouraging all
of us to set priorities in our life.
Every investment is a matter of choice.
You have seen the needs of the world on
your Short-Term trip this summer. How
has that affected your lifestyle and
your choices?
Don’t store up treasures here
on earth, where they can be eaten by
moths and get rusty, and where
thieves break in and steal. Store
your treasures in heaven, where they
will never become moth-eaten or
rusty and where they will be safe
from thieves. Wherever your treasure
is, there your heart and thoughts
will also be. -Jesus

Nelson's
Nuggets |
|
| Feed Back Nelson’s
Nuggets
It is indeed a sad commentary on the
lack of compassion we so often encounter
as we move through our daily lives and
activites. It bothers and sometimes
irritates us because we see the world
and its' needs through God's eyes and
operate as God's hands. Those outside of
Christ can often be self centered.
However, we must be so careful no to get
hung up on people who don't care and
know that there are people who truly do
care and desire to help such as the
manager of a drug store who donated a
large bag of items and said "I wish
there were more things on the list I
could donate". There was a cashier who
overheard and said "What else do they
need"?
I approached the managers of a large
grocery store chain, who undoubtedly
have had many requests in the past week
for donations and are already partnering
with the Red Cross but still are
donating $100.00 in products.
We seem to be hearing from the media
a lot about what people did not do or
are not doing and pointing fingers of
blame. Remember there are multitude of
people Christians and non-Christians
that do care and are putting that care
into action.
Dare we say to "God, don't ever let
me want to side step opportunities to
share of my resources, my time or your
love even in the business of my life in
order to just get out of the store"?

Board of Missions
RWR
November 18-20
Every Fall the Board of Missions
conducts an RWR at Pinebrook Bible
Conference. An RWR is a Retreat within a
Retreat held Friday through Sunday.
Those who participate work as conference
personnel throughout the weekend, and
conduct their own retreat during their
off-duty hours.
The Board of Missions' RWR is for teens
and singles to spend some time thinking
about God's plan for their lives as it
relates to missions. Besides spending
time looking into God's Word, there is
also a missionary in attendance to add
valuable insights on following God's
lead into missions.
If you or someone you know would be
interested in attending the next RWR
contact the Board of Missions for
additional information. God has done
amazing things through this ministry.
